So let’s say, your subject matter is marketing -you’re going to be writing an essay about marketing or marketing plan.
The easiest way to break up a topic is to use the Power of Three. Let’s see how it will work about marketing.
Section One could be about research. Does marketing include market research? Absolutely. This section will answer the question “What are the competitors doing?”
Next, Strategy. Is there such thing as marketing strategy? Absolutely. And it will answer the question “What should we plan to do?”
Next, execution. And this will answer the question, “How should we execute the plan?”
Now, here’s our overall structure.
It is about the marketing plan. And here are three sections:
You now have three main sections already going in your essay. And this should be the main structure.
Now, you can further subdivide each of the sections into subsections. You could talk about social media, print advertising, and tv and radio ads in the research section.
You can do exactly the same thing in the strategy section, and again exactly the same thing in the execution section.
